    What is the Best AntiVirus?

After some recent investigation, I have found that AVG's detection rate is terrible. Worse than Symantec. It missed half of the downloads I tested, of which nearly all the other decent AVs picked up. And yes, I investigated the binaries myself to make sure it wasn't all false positives.

Logical Fallacies and Constructing a Good Argument

Re: How to construct a good argument You've got to be kidding me? It's just a long way of saying, support with proof and review what you say.

The other guy is mistaken. Chrome uses Adobe PDF Plug-In for Firefox and Netscape. It just happens to load it faster. You misread it, he said it jumped from 50 to 215. But, I don't see why memory usage is such a big deal. The difference in usage is insignificant and 2gb ram costs ~$20. Look...

    Your views on the supernatural

In an intellectual arena, it may be irrelevant and worthless evidence. Or, as you put it, indemonstrable and not presentable.

No, it becomes subjective evidence. Experience can be used as evidence.

Evidence does not have to be proven, nor objectively consistent and tested.

No, you definitely aren't. I saw a couple people in this thread who favored IE earlier. The demographic for this forum will likely not be IE users. It should be expected, this being a web host forum. Personally, I would probably just use IE if I didn't do any web development. However, I do...

And that is why your statements, as well as the earlier Opera supporters', are worthless and restrictively subjective. I have already stated clearly my reasons as to why Opera is not the best, and does more harm than good. My reasons have been neither preferential nor subjective. Not sure...

And so, the truth comes out. It's just personal preference. None of the aforementioned claims to Opera's merit have been supported, with each failed "reason" glossed over for the next incrementally ridiculous claim. But you, at least, are somewhat reasonable. On the matter of "the best web...

Logical Fallacies and Constructing a Good Argument

Re: Logical Fallacies I haven't actually read through any of them, but judging from the titles of the threads you have participated in, it should be expected that most of the content of such threads will be chock full of logical fallacies. By their very nature. No amount of sticky threads will...

http://flock.com/ The "social" browser. Basically Firefox modded for social networking. Edit: Why are you even bothering to continue with eliasr's inane argument? His argument is basically: "random unrelated popular stuff is not best, therefore Firefox is not best. Opera is best, because I...

    Battle of the Browsers

Seriously. With the Opera zealot rants, you'd think Firefox was the only browser in the world that has ever crashed. As if all those major crash bugs in Opera 9.2 and 9.5 never existed. Not to mention Opera has an official "fix" for instability where it basically resets everything. Really...

    Battle of the Browsers

To be considered anything near "innovative", yes, UI enhancements like speed dial need to be proven by the masses to be a significant boost to the user experience. A browser with 2% market share (Opera) does not show that. The operawatch.com quote is interesting. I'm surprised they would...

    Battle of the Browsers

@eliasr: FYI, if you want lightweight rather than flexibility, there are many other browsers using the Gecko engine that fit this bill. One of them, K-Meleon, is able to use some Firefox add-ons and most Add-ons can be ported (with some work). That is misinformation, Opera is not the...

    What is the Best AntiVirus?

Re: What is the Best AntiVirus? - Help those indecisive That's more what I was expecting to see. Kaspersky has always had a good record of detecting the latest threats. AVG's detection rate, from what I remember, has always been poor. I remember being able to easily find malicious programs...

    What is the Best AntiVirus?

I must be really out of the loop here. I really wouldn't have thought that AVG would overtake Kaspersky or even Avast in users. Must be because it's free. Norton also got more votes than I would have guessed. I thought Kaspersky would have taken all their users by now.

    Battle of the Browsers

Why exactly is my point moot? Which "features" do the casual browser users care about? In the same veins, nobody uses Opera, so I guess your point is moot as well? Choice through plug-ins is hailed by most as Firefox's strength. I neither agree nor care about this. It's a matter of personal...

I should probably retract a little bit what I said about Opera. "Detriment" may have been a bit too strong. Especially with their complaint to the EU, even if the timing was clearly off. At least they're trying. But, the point still stands. A proprietary browser with a different layout...

    Battle of the Browsers

Opera is clearly not faster. Especially with the recent optimization race within the open source browsers sparked by Chrome's V8. Read my former comment. Opera is a detriment to the web. You've been drinking too much of Opera's kool-aid.
