This is a question about changing permissions on directories and files through the cPanel.

I just added some themes to my forum and after looking in the file manager in cPanel, I noticed that all the new direcories had a permission of 777 and all new files had a permission of 666.

My understanding is that directories should have a permission 755 and files should be 644. Is this correct and if yes, is there an easy way to change all these permissions? I know I can highlight severel directories and use the Change Permissions option ath the top of the cPanel but then I have to open the directory and change permissions on the sub-directories and then do the same for the files.

Is there a way to do this that precludes me from having to go directory by directory and file by file like changing permissions of all directories and files in the public_html directory at once?

Thanks

You're right. Folders CHMOD should be 755 and files CHMOD should be 644.
I think there's no easier way of changing permissions :(
