Firewall of starka blocking me when doing ftp backup

Today I was testing mounting my webspace with FUSE locally in order to have backups, and while making a tarball of one directory (the tarball was stored locally, i.e. all that was going over ftp was data in my direction), the starka server seems to have blocked my ip. (The server was still up, since it was accessible via proxy). Is there anything I can do to prevent being blocked in this way, since it would be good to be able to do local backups since the server backups are now monthly?
