first tell me what type of site you have and what type of visitor you want?
if you are ready to invest in $$ then go for a good SEO..
other wise to to Google ad sense and put ad on your site ,register with directives join the blogs and post their with your url to site same goes to yahoo,askme and etc
-check your keywords as you go up the line in search pages you will get more visitor..
