mysql database size.

Hi,

generally I take backup before doing any changes to my site.
so i used to take backup of files and mysql they used to be in size of around 30MB files and around 40 to 60KB mysql ,

But now i wanted to change one file, so taking backup and i observed that the mysql backup is keep on downloading .

So i checked in my sql databases there it is showing 1772.06 MB that is 1.7 GB .Why is it so. :dunno:

should i restore the old backup sql or it will be solved.

There is a chance your database has gotten extremely large over since the last back up, How were you taking the database back up?

using backup option in cpanel
but my account has 300 mb limit right. it also includes mysql i think

Mine is adfree account on cossacks.

Moreover i have backup of 30th October 2008 before i observe this problem, means on 31st i saw this problem. on 30th i have added a forum topic of 5 lines. thats it.
I don't think this will increase the size of 1.7GB.

I see the database size as 1.21 MB

Try downloading the backup again.

Thanks. The problem solved now it is only 136 KB in compressed format.
