Weapons are good for self defence, but they are often used to break law.It is the duty of state to provide security to its people.Only in case of major problems, which is often called emergency by governments, weapons can be given to trusted people to defend themselves and others.Afghanistan problem is an example of this, Americans gave weapons and money to defeat Soviets during 60s, eventually soviets defeated.Now these terrorists have infiltrated all countries and spreading terror.Extremism or violence is no solution for solving the large problems.One should become part of system to reform it.
Peaceful revolutions and protests are enough to attract the attention of government, media and world.This can be a book based lecture for some people, but what you can do, because no law in civilized countries allows you to kill criminals.They are brought to justice and then sentenced on the basis of evidence.So Mexico or any part of world can't be an exception.In my country (India) citizens are allowed to keep weapons for self defence and for this we have a good licencing system.But in most cases of home violence these weapons are used by criminals, rather than for self defence.
So should we be given the right to use weapon or not?
No goverment will allow you to become parellal government or law enforcing agency, because this can be used against themselves.Only trusted people can be given weapons to defend themselves by using a licencing system.Here trusted means those who don't have bad reputation in police records.Ultimatly it is the government whose duty is to give us security and safety.
Right to use weapon to kill criminals can be given in extreme conditions where police and army needs you, but it can be self destructive, if went in hand of criminals, or people started to use it against the government itself.
