I have been advised to make a simple addition to my .htaccess file. I have managed to use the Legacy File Manager to allow hidden files to be seen. That works OK and I can see all the normally hidden files.
But I find I have no .htaccess file. So I have a couple of questions:

I'm just learning how to use cPanel again. It's been a long time since my old Drupal days.
Here is my problem:
1. I have a simple Hello World file that shows up fine on my web page.
2. I can edit the HTML file from cPanel and save the changes.
3. Those changes are not reflected on the web page...
I had some issues logging in earlier today but all that is now working fine.
Now I want to be able to log on to cPanel but have not figured out how to do it.
