Looks like we have a go - I can log into the version of Moodle 2.8 I uploaded and navigate to the main page. Not tried developing courses yet, but this is the furthest I've got with any free provider so thanks for your help :) Marshal

Moodle still claims it can't find the zip module - wonder if I need to strip it all out and start again to test it properly.

Just to add to this discussion that Moodle 2.8 (not sure how much lower it goes) won't run without this extension installed - been quite a journey and this is my latest challenge :)

Got it got it got it - many thanks :) I think what confused me was that I was offered 'Add existing users' and I just accepted that - it doesn't ask for a password - this time I scrolled down to find 'Add NEW user' which let me do all that stuff. Marshal

I'm setting up and experimental version of Moodle and I need to be able to give it the password for the SQL database that's associated with it. I can create the database, name it and create a user, but I can't see how to set the user password. I guess I'm missing a button somewhere - can anyone...
