I want to transfer my domain to x10, but it says there's a $9.95 annual fee? Annual? A transfer is a one-off action, so why would I be paying annually for it?

I asked Google and it said:

No, domain transfers aren't an extra annual fee
; instead, the cost is typically a mandatory one-year domain renewal with the new registrar, adding a year to your existing registration, with no loss of time, plus a potential flat transfer fee (which can be $0 for some TLDs like .au). You pay for the year of service upfront with the new provider, effectively combining your next annual fee into the transfer cost, and you don't lose any existing registration time

Free hosting currently does not accept domain registration transfers. Only x10 Premium offers this, with a 2 or 3 year package, it is offered for free as included. (.au is not currently an accepted TLD)

You do not pay annually for the transfer, that is the domain registration fee itself. Using an existing domain, it is not required to transfer to x10, you would be changing the registrar.

I do mean switching from Free to Premium, but when I go to order it, it shows an annual transfer fee, even if I select the 2 or 3 year package. The annual fee disappears if I don't select Transfer, and reappears when I do select Transfer. So it looks like there's an annual transfer fee?

Maybe it's just a poor way of showing the annual domain name fee? It should be more clear if that's the case.

With 2 or 3 year package, the fee is included.

To me, it’s already clear that it means that’s cost for the domain itself, as domains aren’t lifetime registered. You still have to pay yearly for its registration.

Oh, I see what you mean now. The +$9.95 annually is because I chose "Domain". It just confused me. Thanks!

Below is also why I thought the Transfer fee was annually. They don't make it very clear, IMO.

Sigh. So I just got charged USD $13.99 instead of USD $9.99. Starting to regret this. :(

x10 needs to adjust my bill to reflect what I added to the cart (see my post above), and then amend their website to show the real price of $13.99.

As you can see your invoice reflects the correct amount despite the website may be showing incorrect. There is no bait and switch here the transfer fee for non 2-3 year plans is currently 13.99. We are also working with you via your ticket on our premium side.
