RedHat and CentOS are the same things, they have slow release cycles, which is good for servers. You don't want to be upgrading a server once a month. Fedora is more of a keep current OS, they have new releases every 1-2 months, which keeps them bleeding edge. You can use CentOS as a desktop OS...

To extend on Livewires post, our Raid Array has basically crapped out. We are working on bringing a new server online now and the we will get all the data we can off the old server.

Ubuntu is great for peoples first adventure into Linux; I pefer CentOS for servers (Due to there long release cycles, more stable platform) and Fedora for desktop (Short release cycles, more bleeding edge).
