how do you run .exe files

Good point, although I can think of a bunch that are actually pretty light on resources because the maps are small, and because it doesn't have to spend time rendering everything.

how do you run .exe files

Correction, you -CAN- run a game server on a VPS offered by x10 (there's no probably about it). Only requirements are that it has to be command line (dun think the VPS's have a GUI), and it can't require more than what your chosen VPS has available to offer in terms of cpu and allotted memory...

    Speech Recognition Software

I have my doubts; there's too many variations/accents on something like English to code in, let alone all the varying dialects of Spanish, French, German, Japanese, etc. While it might get popular in one area, it won't experience success in another (due to the lack of being able to recognize a...

    The Sims 3!

And here I said I wouldn't be buying it. Apparently in the last 5 or so days (got it last week, can't remember what day though >_<), I've logged 31 hours, which puts it at the top of my xfire game list sometime in the next week and a half or so (if I keep playing it at the same rate I am right...

    ASP.NET "DllNotFoundException: gdiplus.dll"

The issue itself is fairly easy to diagnose - x10hosting runs on a linux server, and whatever application you're writing requires gdiplus.dll, which I believe is a windows dll. Source: http://www.auditmypc.com/process/gdiplus.asp No idea how to fix it, but that's what the issue is. You're...

    mIRC connection port.

You're using the right port, the question I'd have is whether you got glined from the server - gline lets you connect but force-disconnects you right away before you can do anything. Is it saying anything in your status window at all? Usually if I get a disconnect I get something like "*...

    Reactivate "voealto.x10hosting.com"

Unfortunately, there's very little that can be done unless you have backups of your site - it's stated in the TOS (and in a bunch of older posts on the forums) that once the account is erased for inactivity, there is no way to recover the information that was present on said account. Course...

    Newby Problem

It's just another temporary server thing; seems to happen whenever apache's rebooting. You either get Connection Timed Out or Connection Interrupted while it's rebooting, the latter of which seems to be the more common :)

Resource usage monitor news post 6/30/09

While (1) { echo "This might be a titch resource intensive"; } But yeah, honestly even that's enough to qualify cause it doesn't matter how long the echo takes, it's going to suck up as much cpu as possible cause it'll keep looping as fast as possible XD

Resource usage monitor news post 6/30/09

From what I gathered it sounds like it's got a bit of a time-delay, so unless it's got an INSANELY long array or has lots of operations to do on it, it -shouldnt- trip high-resource-usage Obviously keep the usage of it down though, just in case :)

Suggestions for a more effective forum

Judging by the news/announcements post about Feedback & Suggestions being opened, I am willing to bet that section got closed not long after I mentioned where it was, probably in preparation for it getting replcaed with a proper forum section where posts that aren't in the right area could get...

    News thread response 6/29/09

Agreed, specially on the last part. But from what I gathered in the PAST, free was barely breaking even with the ads. Paid I imagine is not only supporting itself, but with plenty extra - assuming a server costs $200, it'd take 29 accounts to earn 1.55 over the server costs. Dunno even what...

Suggestions for a more effective forum

I know! http://forums.x10hosting.com/project.php?projectid=1 The Feedback & Suggestions project-tool area, right below News/Announcements. Course it's been hijacked recently and mostly contains posts from people attempting to get help, which needs an adjustment (should really be a forum...

    Cron daily backup script

Only worry I'd have is with high-resource usage possibly being an issue. The alternative to backing up the home directory is some sort of locally based (read: on your pc, not x10) that FTP's to x10 every week and recursively downloads everything it finds. That won't cover databases, but that...

    Vista Media Center Recording

Pretty sure this is the right place, regardless I'm having problems getting my google searches to explain the part I actually need the answer on: I've got Windows Media Center and a new TIVO card, MC's recording things on a schedule quite well. Here's the question - I know it's the Media...

    Nasty viruses

Re: Nasty *ss viruses I'll vouch for AVAST if only because one particular version of AVG ran absolutely horrid (I've been told a later version repaired the bad performance), but swapping it for AVAST worked for me. I'd still nuke-and-go if it's an option though. I already spent a few hours...

Creating a dedicated server and installing more stuff

Not to be blunt at all, but given the sheer number of hosts that -do- have apache, mysql, and a ton of other addons installed, I don't think the problem is php. The issue is likely directly related to a port conflict (mysql trying to bind to a port that's already been bound) or a firewall...

    php memory allowed size?

The issue is you've already exceeded the maximum memory allowed when it went to allocate more - that's why it's kicking back a fatal error. When it said tried to allocate 491520 bytes, that's the memory call that actually put it over the maximum memory - it's already gotten most of the maximum...
