You don't need to get electric shocks from building a PC. Just as long as everything on the back and the PSU is unplugged, it's safe. I've changed hardware in my gaming computer many times and the only shock you might get is static, which you need to ground off someplace and not in your computer.

You should try fixing those BSODs. I've honestly since I first got Windows 2000 years ago, and even up to now where I have Vista on a gaming computer never had a BSOD. Windows 98, 95 and ME however, those were horrible and always BSOD'd at every opportunity when Windows or a program locked up...

The Orange Box is honestly a lot better on the PC than it is on a console. Valve originally made their games for PC so the controls are for PC as well as the gameplay. If HL2 is in there, imagine how painful it'd be to try to kill the headcrabs with the crowbar. But I may be wrong!
