Spore: The most pirated game ever

Without coming off as a jerk, if I'm not mistaken you're wrong on both counts. The activation limit gets destroyed by the pirates in the same way secuROM gets destroyed - it bypasses it. secuROM is still installed because that gets installed with the game. The pirates include extra...

Spore: The most pirated game ever

The activation limit's the problem, 'nuff said right there. Without disclosing my sources, but they do in fact exist and some of us users may very well know where I'm getting my info, but it's not uncommon for someone to buy the game then promptly pirate it just to get around the freakin'...

PHP - Help With Friends System

He is; read the post above his. He changed Like to =; like would match 1 to 1, 11, 111, 1111, and if I'm not mistaken numbers like 1245 as well. = makes it absolute like you pointed out, which is what we needed :)

    Christmas list

Just $ here. Can't rebuild this hunk of crap without $. Stuff I can salvage: 3 hd's 1 dvd burner 1 NVidia 8800gt. MAYBE the ram. PSU & Case. What I need to replace cause this pc sucks: Motherboard (I have no onboard lan anymore, it burnt out) CPU (Bailing on AMD, just not impressing me as...

Free Software Poll 2: Word Processors

OpenOffice; first one I found, feels exactly like Office 2003 to me (which is the one I like, coincidentally), opened and worked with all my word and excel files right out of the box. Others in the poll would probably do the job too but OO's the first one I remembered and picked up when I...

    Strange sound

I'd replace this personally; same sound my alarm clock made before shorting out and dieing. Didn't explode or hurt anything, but it did fizzle a bit until it died... Not entirely sure if it really is urgent though. It might just be one of those signs that it's aging and needs a replacement...

What do you name your computers?

LWHQ Vista, LWHQ XP, MediaBox, OldSkool, and ****Box. Last one is a horrid system, you can probably guess at the name ;)

I can't retrieve info from db to display on page??

The query looks fine but what is $id set to? When in doubt replace: $mysql_result=mysql_query($query,$conn); With $mysql_result=mysql_query($query,$conn) or die($query . "<br/>" . mysql_error()); Last part'll return the query, a line-break, then the error that is actually occuring, which...

    Is x10 hosting good ?

4 words quoted from a multitude of movies. Sensational; I LOVE IT! But seriously. When free's stable, if you like that, thats essentially what paid is, but with less restrictions (pretty much has PHP Advanced(Level3), cron jobs every minute long as it doesn't go TOO high on resources, etc)...

    Which PC Brand?

DIY from scratch. Least then you know exactly what kind of workmanship went into it, and although pre-made systems -are- catching up, it seems DIY STILL gives the best bang-for-your-buck if you shop around for the parts to get the best deals on the same pieces. But as much as I hate them...

    Monitor turning Yellow[Help]

Mine is similar on my dead system; bad connection at the video card oddly enough. Cept it dyes the screen Cyan (bright blue like this smiley:  ) instead of yellow. Fixed that by replacing the entire computer. Overkill but it worked :) If you can get access to another CRT temporarily...

    Dead Space

I needed new shorts at more than one point during my like 1 hour of gameplay before I decided to turn the lights in the room back on. I'm not much on horror games but it definitely qualifies :)

which audio player do u prefer?

XMPlay for me; freeware, small, and replaced Winamp for me when Winamp was having issues staying stable for 4+ hours (they've since fixed whatever was causing it to crash, but it was already replaced by the time they fixed it - why go back if another program is doing the job?)

    Search Engine listing of threads

Well since Google indexing other sites is the only reason I can find that SysAlive 3 (an application I've been working on from scratch) is showing up on google at all (second spot down should be my first wordpress post about it), its fairly obvious that I quite like this. I mean since I never...

    DRM or no DRM?

If it's free it doesn't need protecting; DRM's supposed to protect theft, which isn't an issue really when it's already free to begin with :)

    DRM or no DRM?

The only problem I have with DRM is copy protection on pc games in particular - it's gotten so aggressive that I have ran into, on more than one occasion, where with a legit disc in the drive, it reads it as a copy and promptly uninstalls itself. Which I find odd frankly. I mean here I've got...

Probably FF3 since it's doing it there but not in IE. The white around the donkey's still there in IE though, that needs a touch-up in photoshop :)

    Browser Based Game Source

I actually took it differently when he said he would customize the one he mentioned. I think he's looking for freely available BBG's available for download and hosting, of which I know none of that you could get the source code for. Might be best if he replies though, just to clarify - based...

    Selection box size

Question based of of something I've seen done on other sites - is it the sort of thing you could break into two boxes? Such as one box, Option 1 we'll call it, that has four or five main groups, which when selected change the options in Option 2 to match? Cause if you could break the 50 down...
