Does the php script have a user interface that you input information to? If so, you'll need to modify your script to run without the userinfo. Cron simply executes a script, and doesn't read anything outputed by said script.

Yes, this is true. Wordpress now uses cURL to connect to other sources, however the function it uses is stopped by x10 having SAFE_MODE enabled. I was also getting the error. On forced refreshed (F5 or Ctrl+Alt+R), the cURL errors went away. (most of them anyways)
