The layout structure is nice, but I'm not very fond of the green color in the left navigation. Also, try changing some of the white text to a lighter shade of gray - it would fit the color scheme nicely, considering you're using a lot of dark grays.

The overall design of the site is nice, but it'd look much cleaner if you put your updates section directly to the left of your navigation. It's probably just a mix-up with your floats if you're using CSS.

Though I haven't used 3d programs in awhile, I really enjoyed using Cinema 4d and Corel's Bryce. Through Bryce was mainly used for landscapes, it was great at rendering objects for abstract art.
