You might also consider setting yourself some kind of weekly reminder to log in. That way you have two chances, even if someone botches a script. Just so long as it isn't you, botching the reminder script. ;-)

Just another vote in favor of "backups are the webmaster's duty, not the host's". And in my particular case, all the files are on my HD anyway. If it's a choice between more space, and backups being done for me, I'll take the space. On the other claw, I'm currently only using a tinyl fraction...

I think there is a Firefox extension that will show that. Not sure how many of the url-shortening services it works with -- I would ass-u-me at least TinyURL, bit.ly, and other very popular ones. Of course, users of other browsers are SOL to various extents. Even so, that doesn't really solve...
