I am having serious problem with my DSL line, you know, the speed now is more or less like the dial-up.

So, I searched over the web, and see is there any speed test website, and it link me to here.

HERE

Know what I get?

I get this :
Your current bandwidth reading is: 256.00 Mbps

which means you can download at 32 MB/sec. from our servers.

I am really shocked and suprise, so I test again, and the page really took me a long time to load, about 1 -2 minutes.... but again, it show about the same result...

Is that really my computer have virus? But I scan here and there, there is no virus found. I am sure that my BitDefender is up to date.

Maybe the one you tried isn't very accurate. I tried what you tried and it gave me
Your current bandwidth reading is: 238.20kbps

which means you can download at 29.78 KB/sec. from our servers.
I tried another one at
and it gave me:
Speed

54.7 kilobits per second
Communications 54.7 kilobits per second
Storage 6.7 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 2.6 minutes
Subjective rating Slow
Explain results

Info
Date & time Sunday, December 10, 9:29AM*
Test type IDT4 Free
Connection type ADSL
Data size 1024KB
Provider
( I deleted some of the info it gave.)
And this claims to be more accurate (I meant http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ )

The test at free-web-speed-test.com isn't quite accurate. My connection is 3 Mbps (3000 Kbps) but that site registered me at 2.73 Mbps... other tests show me right at 3 Mbps.

Cynical,

Actually when your speed is 3MB it should never reach that. That is what the MAX is allowed and it shouldn't get to that, it probably just rounds it. It seems to me that the website is accurate.

Woo! Totally wrong!

Your current bandwidth reading is: 18.53 Mbps

which means you can download at 2.32 MB/sec. from our servers.

I got 1 Mbps ADSL... and download speed at 100-200 KB/sec...

That website is horrible. I searched everywhere until I found the small, nondescript, "Click here" link that was the same colour as the rest of the text. It wasn't even underlined.

And 3676 kbps for me and my cable connection. That's pretty accurate.

Also, the test uses the URL to transfer data, which means you can create your own test results ;)

I think it rounds up to compensate for assumed lag, to try for what your real value would be.

I seem to have a very quick connection to it, and it's giving me 2/3 times what I should have

There is a decent speed test ... I use ( as well as my friend, who is a IT tech / Unix Admin for a govern. lab ) ...

I believe its at : http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

To get a decent reading, pick the server that would be closest to you, then run the speed test 3 times to get a generalized average.
