I've been scouring the internet lately for some new FREE MMORPGS that looks fun. And well, my results have been less than good. Any of you guys have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

http://planeshift.it/

Open source and available for GNU/Linux, FreeBSD (non-official), Mac OS X and Windows.

The FreeBSD port was created by fans of the game. Yet another advantage of open source software.:biggrin:

If you've got Diablo 2, then you've got an early MMORPG that isnt' quite an MMORPG...do you get what I'm saying?

I have both Diablos, but I got bored with them ( an MMORPG with no player competitions? ).

@noerrorsfound:
Planeshift was a let down. I dont like it. Thanks for the suggestion anyway though!

Was it too boring? I also found it a little boring, especially since I had no clue what to do and nobody's allowed to give very much information on the forum, and even though you can get help in-game from other players a lot of people don't bother helping you. It was alright after I figured out what to do but it's just not my type of game.

If you ever have nothing to do and wish to give it another try, start off by killing random rats in the sewer and then find somewhere to sell the crap you got from them. It's kind of weird that each rat has a hide, eye (they're one-eyed rats), and tail, yet most of the time you only get one of these or nothing at all.

The thing I didn't really like about it was the strict in-character rule.

I didn't remember this before, and it's only available for Windows, but try The Universal. It might have a little bit of a learning curve but you can get help on the forum if you don't understand something. It's actually a great game that I don't really know why I stopped playing. I think it was taking up too much of my time. Once you get into it you'll have a lot of fun, and they could always use more players. It's not really "massive" but it's got quite a bit of people playing, mostly regulars but occasionally a new person will show up. When I first played the game, I asked for rides to places where I could get a job and buy a house and things like that, and people were pretty eager to take me wherever I wanted to go. After you play for a while you'll probably become one of those people helping the newbies learn the basics.

Not that I know of, I havent played it in a few months, I started Star Wars Galaxies this morning and I am not going back, its too good. When I played Knight Online I could login anytime I wanted! I never had any problem with it or logging in! Maybe if what you say is true then its a recent development, when did you hear that?

Guild Wars and Archlord (recently free) are Free MMORPG's and you only have to buy the game, its worth it because they are really nice MMO's!

Try Microsoft Flight Sim X (if that counts to you...) you can play online with people all around the world, you are all on one server and you can go anywhere pretty much. Crash planes into stuff, drive around in helicopters smashing the planes, its pretty fun. But after a while they will ban you. Not fun.
