Does it say anything else such as IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO or something else besides that text? I'm not able to tell by looking at that information. If you can, tell the system to not reboot on a system stop and get the information off of the BSOD.

One thing you should try doing is updating your drivers. Especially if you're running Vista, old drivers can cause BSODs when updates are pushed in. Also, programs such as SecuROM, viruses and spyware (of course) can cause BSODs, and even not running a simple scandisk at boot from time to time can cause BSODs.

Only time I've had blue screening at boot up was due to the system running too hot. Extra ventilation and a slightly lowering the cpu clockspeed solved the problem.

As above though - definately check your drivers are up to date.

this is normal... but my general policy with windows is, when in doubt, reinstall. ;)

Thanks for the information guys. I shall change it so that it won't reboot upon error, so I can write down the error properly.

I shall check my drivers, to see if that improves things. The extra ventilation thing is an interesting point. My laptop is plugged in for a fair amount of time when I use it for long periods of time (tends to be most of the day!). The blue screen does not happen at every boot time so its not all that much of a problem, I was just intrigued! I have cover on the laptop, so if necessary, I shall just see if I can get it replaced if I it happens more often and I cannot self medicate the problem.

Once again, thanks for the help guys, you have been really useful!

I often get these now, especially when trying to put Vista to 'sleep'. I have reinstalled Vista at least five times in a year just to keep it stable, and I'm just waiting to buy another Samsung F1 HDD to use as backup for my data this time.

No problem. Let us know what the problem was when you come around to fixing it. Since you are using a laptop, check the air intakes/exaust to make sure that the vents aren't blocked by dust and the fan is spinning and is blowing out hot air. Also, it's a good idea to keep the laptop on a hard surface and to not cover it up when it's on. This will keep BSODs and Thermal Shutdowns away if the computer is overheating.

Might want to try upgrade all of your drivers, especially the video drivers. Vista shouldn't BSOD on you like that as every PC I've seen running Vista can go into sleep mode without BSOD'ing.
