Hi admin,
I am carrying out a number of tests involving embedded audio/video (all self-made + in a pwd-protected area). I discovered using flash video, according to the maker of the CMS module used requires the webhost enabling or installing FFMPEG .
Could you please consider doing so & if so, alerting me t that effect.
Thanks in advance

You shouldn't need ffmpeg unless you're going to be converting files on the server, which would just waste resources. It would be easier to convert on your computer and upload the FLV files. You could probably find a bunch of swf files for embedding the video.

hi,
thx for replying.
Well, the thing is still experimental & wont waste any resources here, since it would be hosted elsewhere, later.
The scripts involved actually convert clips in the different formnats different users of the community site may have to flash video, like on youtube.com.

So I really need it at least for testing purposes for sometime, which explains my request/inquiry.

If you are the only person who needs it, it would be rather silly to install this on the server, especially if you are going to be hosting elsewhere later. Instead, why not try installing it on your *own* computer, that way you have complete control over it (ie. no worrying about server resources, uptime, etc.), and you can just remove it whenever you're done.

Well, thank u for answering.

I have no experience in some of these things or aware of the time/resources/work/the "sillyness" (or is it silliness? - I'm not a native English speaker) involved in doing something like installing that feature. I didnt even know one can install it on one's own pc.
Thanks for pointing suggesting it, though.
