My site uses some simple CGI Perl scripts. I got 404's when I tried to access them, and Corey very kindly told me that I had to link my forum and hosting accounts, then helped me do that when I hit problems. (Thanks Corey!).
Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem. So I moved the scripts up from the cgi-bin directory, into my public_html directory, and tweaked my form HTML accordingly. That fixed the problem & the site now works.
But I wanted to check: is this ok? I installed my site on another free-hosting service, and they required CGI script files to go into the same directory as HTML files. x10hosting gives you a personal cgi-bin directory, so I figured that's where I should put my scripts. I'm completely happy putting my scripts in my public_html, but want to make sure puting them there doesn't violate your security model. I don't think it should -- as I said, some hosting services require this -- but wanted to check.
Thanks!
