I've been attempting to get some kind of answers to this issue for about a week now. Originally, I had unlimited disk space, then suddenly it appears to have been limited to 512 mb (currently I'm standing at
"Maximum file size allowed for upload: 498.24 MB" .....). I would like to get this back to unmetered, infinite, unlimited, etc... That's phase 2 tho... Phase 1 is to find out what exactly happened, because I am so baffled.

I have seen others saying this has happened to them and the repliers implying that their account was suspended. I attempted to follow their directions... "Log into portal, and follow the link in the red bar to file an appeal." However, I do not see a red bar. If the website, has changed their unlimited disk space policy, I have not found any evidence to suggest such.

Please help me, at the very least, understand what has happened.

Thank You

When your account is suspended, you have no access. Free Hosting accounts have potentially unmetered space; new accounts have a disk space limitation that can be lifted (on request) if the account is in good standing (no terms of service or acceptable use policy violations), is at least 7 days old, and if you are using at least 50 percent of your allocation (may be higher for the 512MB limit). Not only does that prevent massive uploads to throw-away accounts (accounts intended to violate the ToS until they're inevitably suspended, usually offering downloads of illegal/copyright material even for just a few hours at a time), it also helps with resource planning. If you actually need the space and are operating legit, you can have it -- you just can't have it from the get-go..

You need to submit a request here to have the restrictions lifted. Remember, though, your account has to be at least 7 days old, and you have to be running out of space already (in addition to being a good boy/girl). (And remember that if your site is primarily in a non-supported language, you need to have an easy-to-find manual translation of the site into one of the supported languages: English, French or Spanish).

You should also keep in mind that only support staff with elevated server privileges can give you more space; most of the volunteers here don't have that kind of access, so it might take a while.
