I'm not going to start arguing about international copy right laws, but I just want to note that fansubbing has long been accepted, even supported by the anime industry. As for
If the authors wanted it to be english-subbed, they'dve (sic) released it as such.
This is frankly outright false. For one thing, it is not the "authors" releasing anything, it is the industry that does so (like the music industry). Second, this statement is logically flawed. Just because I wrote a book in one language and did not translate it into another does not means I'm somehow dismissing the possibility of it being another. I may not have the expertise, time, or money to do so. Everything I wish for does not automatically come true. Conversely, something that does not happen does not mean I did not wish for it. I know that x10hosting is just trying to cover its own behinds, but it would be nice to be notified and be given a chance to modify the things that are of concern rather than brick-walling.

If you read the Terms of Service, which you automatically agreed to upon registration, any violation of it results in a permanent suspension as part of the zero tolerance policy.

That I did, and did not see any point which has been violated. Have you been served a DMCA take down notice? If you have, I would gladly take it down as part of the Indemnification clause.

So what does this mean? This means that the creator of the work has the right to make copies of his or her product, sell them, as well as translate them into any language he or she wishes. Additionally, if the author feels that another person or group might do a better job translating the work, the author has the right to sell it to another group for the purpose of translation and distribution in another country.

Fansub groups inherently violate most of these protections; in order for anyone to download their work, they first translate the title, and then redistribute it to others. While there is no mention of illegalities receiving the file, those who offer the file for download are certainly in violation of Japanese copyright law.

You were zero tolerance permanently suspended for violating Japanese Copyright Law and the x10hosting TOS/Acceptable Use Policy. This is a Zero Tolerance suspension so you will not be unsuspended and cannot be granted access to your files.

Do some research next time - I found that site just by typing in "fansub legality" in Google, and it pretty much is identical to what my original suspension reason was for you. If the author wanted it to be subbed in English, they'dve found a way to release it with english subs. The methods Fansubber's use involve illegal redistribution of the now-subbed file.

Edit: Forgot to point this out:
The same protections afforded to Japanese copyrighted works can be found in America, although are significantly more difficult to locate.

American Copyright protects derivative works9, which includes translations. However, US Copyright law inherently accounts for copyright protections of other countries, when "the work is first published in the United States or in a foreign nation that, on the date of first publication, is a treaty party"10.

The US and Japan have signed numerous treaties, the most important of which is the Berne Convention, although others exist. As such, US Copyright protects Japanese productions, including anime, as well as derivative works from it, such as translations.

Short version? Violates japanese copyright law, and violates American copyright law, because we have a treaty with them.

As I said in my first post, I'm not going to debate with you about copyright laws. But if you're going to list sites from Google, I could easily do the same (you're suffering from confirmation bias). Sorry if you're confused, but I didn't really post for access to my files (who maintains a website without backups?), so I should have probably posted elsewhere (apologies for that). I was just a bit annoyed about your lack of clarity on the subject and your seemingly hunter style shutdown (heaven forbid if that girl in your signature was not made by you). It would be nice if your TOS was more specific on the subject. Please close this thread now.
