I was wondering since x10 offers free hosting with ads, Do they make any profit from it?

The ad money generated goes back into making x10 better and paying for the servers.

So, to really answer - probably not. If it is any profit, the money is reinvested into x10 to cover server and other operating expenses.

I think Corey will have to answer this, but in my opinion I think the money got from th ads goes to maintaining and upgrading the servers...
