Does anyone know of a good, free anti virus and firewall program for Vista? I applied to test Norton System Works 2007, but who knows when I'll get an invitation.

Ha Ha thats funny.
Its useless.
I want something I know I can trust.
Like AVG click on here for the link.

Well, then, should I make some more recommendations? ;)
And yes, I was half-joking; that was the first thing I thought of and I just posted it. AVG is good, but steer clear of Norton and McAfee. They're as bloated as hell. I'd also like to point out that Windows Live OneCare was purchased by Microsoft.

Thats a good choice I can send you a link to get a free upgrade. Yes its a legal copy the link is from the site. I had a trial account during school and they sent me a link to upgrade to the 2007 version free.

Would that be the same version as this?

Nope Mine is the real thing not a one year trial. I think mine might be for XP only not sure because I don't have internet at home and haven't upgraded yet.

A year trial is more than enough for me right now. Once Vista expires, I'll probably go back to XP.

AVG Free - mostly the same as avg pro, just doesn't cost $$$, which leaves you free to donate to x10!

http://free.grisoft.com (surprising how many sites DONT link to that page, it's like they want it to stay hidden...) Its got the risk of being 'discontinued' at a moments notice (to force users to upgrade to avg pro of course), but besides that it's a good antivirus (and has been for a long time).

Just thought I'd throw that link out there so you aren't stuck finding questionably legal copies of it :)

Oh, and Nortan/McAfee can kiss my virtual backside. Never felt so violated in my life - even upgrading to XP didn't increase my boottime half as much as those did (went from <10 second with 98se to <60 with xp, took 3 minutes to boot with nortan installed. That's just horrible)
