Good luck with the JLPT #4, you're almost done!
I want to learn Japanese, but I'm not very good at picking up languages (I can learn a new programming language in 30 minutes though!). I took a class, but the teaching method, I thought, was counterproductive for me. I also have The Rosetta Stone, but I don't have the time to sit and do the lessons.

There are four levels. Four is the easiest, one is close enough to fluency. It's very hard to learn without proper guidance, though. It's only through other people's hard work, and a number of JLPT revision sites, that I'm able to learn at all.

Oh I have The Rosetta Stone too. I find it's more effective when I use it to learn a language like French (as I already somewhat have a grasp of it) but with the Japanese or even Mandarin lessons, I just can't sit through it.
Speaking of which, I went to Japan last year and I probably should've tried to learn some of the language first because I was so lost! (I also have some pics of my trip on my site, but I just changed the domain's nameservers and it might not work by the time you or whoever reads this)
