Anyone captured streaming video from the latest Canon or Panasonic video cameras?

I'm trying to find a suitable video camera for capturing live video on a new PC (a consumer level one). Maybe using HDMI (but that'll take up loads of disk space). They don't have firewire any more

And doing Picture in Picture....

Any recommendations? Thanks.
