Does the free hosting plan support asp.net websites? The only forum posts about this are from 2008, which indicated asp.net is supported. But when I access my asp.net website it just displays an "Index of /" and the site contents.

No. For scripting/programming, you have your choice between PHP. Support costs for .NET/Mono, Perl and Python, just in terms of time and warm bodies with enough knowledge, are too great for Free Hosting. If you want actual ASP.NET (complete with Win APIs), you need to look for Windows hosting. Here, you'd need a VPS.
