I have one of my websites hosted on a host that will automatically put the banner on the page in the header. You can then insert a code such as <!--******_horizontal_blue-->. If you put that code in, it will not display that ads that are automatically inserted. It will insert the ads where you specified with the code.

And that system is horrible, as it by default puts the ads on top above the layout, which turns away some potential hostees.

I think it's better and friendlier as it is.

(chougard, I feel really bad for you for being hosted there. Really really bad. It's almost constant downtime, and the reason I came here. :p)

Force ads until the owner actually put in the required ad, then the force ad will disappear. (I guess)

The way that site does it:

A script searches through the processed file it's about to send, and replaces any occurances of that comment with the ad code. If not found, it inserts the code right below the body tag (I think it's there).

Yeah, that system was horrible. I dislike companies that force ads into the layouts. And dest, I believe it placed it right after the <body> AND right before the </body>

I found it much easier to insert the ad codes in that method and I do not have to worry about being suspended for accidentally forgetting to insert the ads in a page. Inserting a line of code would only show the banner at the location where you placed the code.

I think that companies that force the ads onto your webpages are total rubbish. The reason for this is that you can properly design a layout.

For example, if you want to PHP include your navigation, then it will automatically place ads on your nav section, and it just ruins the entire layout. Hence why I ended up here as I could choose where I want the ads to appear, which appealed to me.

I have only noticed that it only places ads on pages that are displayed, not included pages (at least not at the host that me and dest came from).

I agree with you, auto ads screw up so many pages that people worked so hard on.

It's not such a bad idea... Not easy at all though... I like the idea cause people can have the ads wherever they want them, however if they do not have them they auto appear... Good way to force people to add them...
