http://www.hotelsbycity.net/blog/bed-jump

This website documents people who bed jump in hotels. On first look, it's rather cool and tempting to post one's photo's to that site. But if you think about it, won't the hotels use it as evidence against you should anything happen like a broken lamp or something?

Worse if you fell off the bed while jumping and hurt yourself, the insurance company won't cover the hospital bill as the injury was "self-inflicted"

So now, would you still post your photo?

Well bed jumping, it's like the case when oxford students (I think) pass their exams and start to through eggs and flours at each other to celebrate (which is against the rules). She posted the photos on face book and got caught my oxford, and is getting some sort of punishment probably exclusion.

I guess that family on the website has already being banned from a lot of hotels, and they don't care about that. If you care about being in a good hotel then I wouldn't recommend it, you either break the bed or yourself :) (and might get sued for the bed)

Haha, those pictures look fun. I haven't jumped on a bed in a very long time. I imagine it's something they should say try at home at own risk, hehe. I would say it's ok as long as you don't damage the bed.

Jumping on the bed, the idea of fun isn't much, but I might as well try doing that while playing my guitar or solving math with extremely sharp pencils to make it look more dangerous.

Showing off, something the human race can't get rid off (I think). But in (the first post) that situation I think it's foolish. When something goes wrong, everything there is to prove that you did wrong + pain etc. is just a click away.

Well to me it will be cool to jump on the bed like they do, but it will be foolish to get sued or charged for spoiling the beds if they are being damage not by me but because I had jumped on the bed and it broke. It will be my fault for being a person who is inconsiderate for others. Who will be using the room in future. What I do not really understand is why are they taking picture of what they are doing in the hotel rooms ? Weird eh

They are being sheer and stupendously stupid.

I mean, consider the outcomes:
They could injure themselves, the could break the bed, damage furniture......
The only thing positive is that they [probably] has some fun.

Secondly, it is the hotels property they are messing with.

Who doesn't go to a hotel and at least jump a few times on the bed? I thought that was like the norm, or at least a hushed "given".

But in terms of your question, I think the photo poster would (hopefully) have some perspective. Obivously if you DID break something in the hotel room or seriously injured yourself that you'd need insurance, you wouldn't want photographic proof of these activities. Though on the grand scheme of things, if you don't give the site your name, then it wouldn't be the easiest thing to match your pic up with you (lot of people look alike!). It's unlike Facebook, as mentioned, which has your name and personal information to easily match up who is who with photos. I think this bed jumping stuff is just good, clean fun.

I think you're all just overreacting. I don't know if you're all overweight or something, but a bed won't break from a few jumps. It's a bit silly, perhaps, but not crazy. They don't seem to be trying to be "cool," they're just having fun. It might not be the safest thing, but it's definitely not worth a page of posts saying "that's so crazy and dumb."

lol. I wouldn't do it. But I have found that people are starved for attention here lately. Have you noticed with all the new reality shows appearing on television, it has become a war of the networks to find d through d list actors and paying them as little as possible to embarrass themselves as much as possible...

I mean, there's Perez Hilton (and others...) making a fool out of themselves trying to rap, Vanilla Ice riding a horse, and need I mention the stars who have their own show. What is the world coming to. lol.

Why take pics of jumping on the bed when there are far more intresting things to do in a hotel room?

One of my best, (not done by me, really dont look at me)!

Take the pair of socks you been wearing the whole 24hour flight, roll them up nice and tight. Some form of flamable liquied or substance is requiered. Soak the socks appropriatly and then ignite(before doing this, make sure the window opens properly), throw the burning ball of toe jam out of the window and run to the lobby to see peoples reactions.
As I said, if saw this, it wasn't me !

Interesting point on that. I have a friend who went to a college by his sister. His sister came over and suprised him with a party. She decided to jump on the bed. The bed broke.

His sister is not very tall, and his sister is cerainly not very muscular or fat. I don't really know her wait but it can't be more than 130 pounds.

And my point on jumping on the bed:
Go ahead, jump on the bed and take pics of yourself. If they are self-incrimiating, don't post them. If they just show you having a ton of fun, why not???

You take the risk of getting hurt everytime you do it, and I think that most people would agree that the risk is ultimately very low.
