hmm... google doesn't like this now... but you can try selling links on your blog. links to other blogs with similar content.
another good way is to use those "pay for writing reviews" services.. they are pretty good and the pay is decent. you have to choose a service to review and write a good review and post it on your blog. they will pay you if its within their TOS.

Adsense is horrible for small blogs, AdToll is the best paying and you have a direct option but they don't allow free sites. The best bet is Bidvertiser.
