Blank page problem

I am trying to install a wiki and a forum, but both installation scripts (which are supposed to show stuff) end up blank. I have already upgraded to version 2 of PHP and I have received the confirmation that the process has been completed.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Ok, thanks, but now I'm getting an error saying that shell_exec() has been disabled. Wasn't this supposed to have been enabled in the jump from v1 to v2?
