Here are some books I recommened to people almost every day for the web.

www.apress.com has all the books I need to learn any programming language I need.
I am also a fan of Wrox books and suppliment Apress and Wrox with Oreilly books.

The problem with downloading these books for free (torrent) is alot of the text formatting (bold, colour, etc.) is stripped and words are joined togeather making thousands of typoes.

Any questions?

I haven't heard of either of those. I have to admit, I consider myself intelligent, but I have gotten away from reading. At least in the sense of books. I have found the internet age to allow a person to gain a large amount of information (and from 1,000's of different opinions) in less time by using the web. I mean, you can still find volumes of information to sift through, but I have become even lazier than that. (I'm ashamed. lol.) I will visit forums, blogs, specialized websites...heck, a lot of times, I will simply google the question or problem I have. I must admit something like 99.999% success in usually minutes. I know I miss a lot of details by not reading, and I deserve a good spanking, but I can't help it. The alternative is way too easy. lol.

I will admit also that I have found Wikipedia and similar sources to be far superior to the volumes I grew up with as a child. I know there is much debate about allowing anyone to contribute to an encyclopedia, but I've always thought knowledge was more a culmination of the masses and not necessarily what one person or group thinks. Besides, the world changes minute to minute now. Anything in print is usually outdated...
