Hi, Yesterday I bought the domain name dotmoth.net from BT in the UK. I tried to apply it to my dotmoth.x10hosting.com address but seem to have cocked this up in spectacular fashion! Would someone take pity on me and explain what I should do to sort my mess out?
BT seem to direct web traffic to the new url - www.dotmoth.net
I set this as my primary domain name on my x10hosting site. This has now reverted to the x10 address although when I try to view it I get a 'can't connect to this server' message from Safari.
First; Should I have BT's redirect pointing at www.dotmoth.net, at dotmoth.x10hosting.com or should I be trying to transfer the .net address to x10? If I point it at dotmoth.x10 I get a 'can't connect to server' message, if I point it at dotmoth.net I get a 'too many redirections' message.
Secondly; It looks like the dotmoth.x10hosting.com has been deleted as I can't access my cpanel. Is this the case or have I set up some sort of system clash through all my inept fumbling?
Thirdly; It seems that I should have addressed the nameservers issue. I don't even know where they are or if I should be looking for them on the x10 side or on the BT side......!
Should I have parked the new .net address at x10 or can I only do that if I transfer it away from BT? Ahhhhhhhh!
I'm totally out of my depth here. I need someone to tell me what to do next.
Sorry to be such a pain but I've tried to sort these issues out by reading forum messages and I'm just getting more confused. Everyone seems to have slightly different issues to sort out.
