Well, sorry for having to ask for help so soon after joniing, but I seem to have got myself tied up in knots! In case it is needed, I am on a Corporate Ad-Enhanced setup, hosting ID is handlep. I have looked at the tutorials that I can find, but nothing seems to explain my problems.

OK, first of all, I uploaded an 'index.html' file to my public_html directory, and then when I went to my URL, I could see that fine. So far so good.

Next, I wanted to get the necessary AD on that page. Looking at the instructions here - http://forums.x10hosting.com/free-hosting/22505-how-insert-ads.html - it looked like I need to install one of the CMS applications (unless I misinterpreted something), so I installed the PHP Nuke one. Then I followed the instructions to insert the Ad script, but nothing appeared on my front page (i.e. my index.html)

So, I removed that CMS, and installed Drupal instead - then followed the instructions to install the Ad code on there. Now this did make a difference, but what happened was, when I went to my URL (diabetessource.x10hosting.com ), I saw the Admin login page for my Drupal, with the Ad script (not the ad itself) up at the top.

I couldn't see how to fix that, so I decided to uninstall Drupal. And that's my last problem, because it won't uninstall! I followed the instructions, clicking the button to prepare it for uninstallation first, then the second button, and it looks like it completes OK, but it is still there.

I am quite obviously doing something wrong (or not doing something right), but at the moment, I'm at a loss to find a way out. So, please anyone who can help, put me out of my misery! :dunno:

All help gratefully received -thanks, Pete.

First of all, do you need a CMS or do you intend to make your own site?

Hi, I possibly (or probably) don't need a CMS - the only reason I tried to install it was because of the instructions for getting the Ad onto my index page. If there is another way to do that, I'm happy to have a go :)
Edit:
Folks, I really need some help with this, please. My setup seems totally screwed up. Is there any way to restore the default config? I just cannot get rid of this Drupal thing, and it seems to have taken total control of my directory. Is it possible to just delete any folders etc from my directory list? If so, what are the default ones I need to leave in there?

If I can get rid of this so I can get back to a standard index.html then I can try doing something with the Ads again (although it looks like I will need help with that too).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pete.

If you plan on not using a cms just insert the code on http://x10hosting.com/account/ads into your .html files.
Edit:
To be honest i dont think you need the corporate plan, its really for people with advanced web development skills who plan to have alot of traffic. The non ads plan has everything you need.

Hi Watchdog, thanks for your response. So, any idea how I get out of the fix I am in? Do I have to cancel my existing account? If so, any idea how I do that? Or can I ask for it to be changed to an Ad-Free (and at the same time defaulted back to a 'working' state?

BTW, I did initially copy that HTML into my static HTML code for my index.html page, but nothing happened, nothing displayed at all.

Thanks again, Pete.

---------------------------------------------

Folks, I am still stuck up a creek without a paddle here. Thanks for the responses I have already had, but I'm no further forward.

1. How do I get back to a default setup, so I can get my index.html page to display?
2. Why does the required Ad not display, even though I had the code in my index.html?
3. Is it possible to have this account deleted, or changed to the Ad-Free version?

Thanks, Pete.

If you want you can change to the adfree plan by following the procedure given in the Upgrades/Downgrades section. This looks like the best option for you. First request your present account to be terminated and then signup for a new account.
