Can not seem to change main domain name

I am sorry if this has been covered in other threads,but I have tried everything I can think of. Well, here goes the all to familiar story. I recently purchased a domain name from Godaddy.com. After the purchase I modified my domain name from the Account Hosting Panel and waited a few hours. When checking I noticed it had not changed so I tried a second time. Waiting a few more hours and tried a third time. So I went to the forums and from what I can determine is that I needed to add a parked page. After the added parked page. cardboardblog.com worked(still parked) I still can not modify my main domain name to cardboardblog.com.(which is what is needed for correct (and updated) wordpress rss feed locations and such. What am I doing wrong? (I am sure its right under my nose, I'm just to blind to see it) Sorry to be a bother,but the answer is afoot. (or in my case afoot in the mouth) Thanks

Oh, forgot to add a suggestion. I would love to see a sticky on the proper procedures for a main domain name change and what to do if gremlins have infested the modified domain name field
