Can't setup joomla, stuck at database configuration.

I've tried to setup joomla 1.6. But I stuck at database configuration step, the error says "Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the Database: Could not connect to MySQL." even I recheck my MySQL configuration

host name: localhost
database name: mikamura_joomla
user: mikamura_jml
password: gdHo=bg8Ho

but I can't pass this step. Did I do anything wrong? Thanks in advance.
