Can't upload anything to wordpress

Hi All.
I'm looking for help with my problem. I started my website yesterday. Originally, I planned to do this a few months from now when I have the money for hosting, but I saw the free basic hosting and figured I could get a jump start and upgrade later. I'm using Wordpress for an Author's website.
I ran into issues right away. I received an error when uploading my theme. I figured it was a large theme, so I uploaded it directly into my files folder using CPanel. Solved the problem.
Today, I tried to upload a couple of pages saved from an older site. Error. No problem. I can rebuild pages. Now, I can't upload a single image. I've tried the media uploader, directly to file, and ftp. Nothing works. I've added regenerate thumbnails plugin, from reading other posts, nothing. I'm stuck. I'm thankful for any help. Thanks.

I may be wrong,
There has been problems with the wordpress installer in cpanel.
some users have had to download wordpress & install it.
since x10hosting changed the cpanel theme its effected parts
of cpanel unless you changed to paper_lantern.

also the free services are limited compared to paid services,
id urge you to read the terms of service and acceptable use
to avoid any problems related to uploading images that are not
related to your website.
