Can't view my site in any browser

I edited the .htaccess file - this seems to have created the problem - couldn't browse my site
so, I deleted .htaccess file - still didn't work
so, I uploaded a new .htaccess file -> blank 0 bytes ansi text
I still can't browse my site
So, I deleted the .htaccess file and I still can't browse my site
Any suggestions?

Update
Seems to be working now - probably server maintenance
BTW - there is no .htaccess file - but that doesn't seem to be a problem
