I noticed that every time I try to use CSS for the coding, it usually ends up voided out when I return to the page later. Why is that?

Does it have anything to do with the computer's temporary internet files? Because I did recently clear my history.

Edit: I'm also having another problem. What are the default directories, because I'm trying to insert images into my page, but they don't show up. I must be getting the url wrong.

your default dir should be public_html and the problem with your CSS is probably the way that the code it being read and put together

For the CSS and images not showing up, clear your browser's cache and reload. You can place your pics anywhere in public_html and its subdirs, just make sure you didn´t mistype the urls.
