CGI script getting a 404 not found

I've just created an account and put a test.cgi script under the cgi-bin directory. The cgi-bin directory and test.cgi both have permissions of 755.

When I try to access it via:

http://pdinstall.x10hosting.com/cgi-bin/test.cgi

I get a 404 not found.

Is CGI support not activated?

Put your cgi file in the "www" directory.
And test it.

I am having the same issues only with a php script.

Now, I uploaded the files to the public_html directory, yadda yadda and the changes are reflected in the www directory as well...but everytime i try to punch in the file to edit, I get the same 404 error.

What very simple step are we missing?
