computer hangs after every few minute. Screen turns black and suddenly it restart. Very less time for me to write this. I'm on the same computer. Sometimes I can see some chinease or japanese type of language in green color before the screen turns black. What's the probable cause?

Presuming you are on Windows OS sounds like you need to do thorough virus / spyware / malware / adware scan and rectify any problems detected. Could possibly be some hardware or software issue unrelated to malware, but that is the first thing I would l take a look at.

You can check hardware failure by booting your computer using a linux live cd, if same problem happens in linux environment then it will be confirmed it is a hardware failure.

but all such scans will need a lot of time. nd i dont think that my pc will be able to withstand for so long. virus scan can b done while system boots but such scans are useless. they barely detect any problem.

@bhupendra does that process install linux in system?

No, best thing about linux live cds are that they allow you to try it before you install it.You can install clam AV under linux environment using apt and it can scan your system for viruses.

i've heard that linux virus is different from windows virus. so the definition of virus will change in linux envo.. and it will not detect ny virus.

Viruses are viruses no matter they are designed for windows or Linux. I tried clam av 2 years ago on ubuntu 8.04 and it was able to detect windows viruses ,even in a flash drive which one of my friend carried to my home. Most of viruses developed in this world are designed for windows.

And I think if it is a virus problem then downloading a bootable anti-virus CD is a good thing. If you get enough time in windows to play before hang, then you can install cCleaner and check for registry errors and also see if there are any unwanted program in the list of programs which start with windows. Also try safe mode of windows by pressing f8 to check if this problem works there or not.

thanks for all your help. The problem is resolved now (I think). last night when I had started my pc, it was indicating "new hardware found". I tried to install driver for it (recommended option). though it wasn't installed properly but from then I'm not facing any problem.
