  • phpWebSite
  • Post-Nuke
  • Siteframe

Personally, I use LifeType or Wordpress blogging as a content management system. I find it flexible enough to take the place of anything else.

Choosing from the ones listed, however, I'd say Mambo is the best. Open source and free, easy to write plugins for it too :)

I'm using Joomla. It's very easy to configure, and if you use JCE, you can write Content easier than an E-Mail.

I used to run and take care of a CMS website myself and when i checked them out to see which ones i would use i decided on PHP-Nuke.

Vast number of templates around , once set up its easy to edit stuff and very customizable [in my opinion].

I'm gonna be doing another site soon and ill be trying Joomla. If its not that good i'll revert back to PHP-Nuke.

[P.S - if anyone wants to see the site its : http://www.ateam-clan.co.nr - my old clan hehe -_-]

If you are interested in awards among the CMS, DRUPAL just won the best overall CMS and Joomla! won the best PHP based CMS. the e107.org also is among the top 5 winners.

My suggestion is to look again at the purpose of your site and go with a system that you are comfortable with. Drupal with all its awards is not too suitable for newbies. On the other hand you have no problems with security.

While the nuke evolution, because it is based on PHP-nuke is working on the security of it's system. It has a lot of code to be read if you want to customize. So it's easy to use but not too easy to modify.

Joomla is the best. It's one of the most popular content management systems, it's open source and it can be easily customized.
