Is this server down, or is the problem at my end?

I do not see any block on our firewall with your IP and I can confirm the server and services have had no downtime and is online.

It worked on Jan 1, but not since then. Both Firefox and Chrome time-out trying to reach the control panel. This is from an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS system. It does respond from Tor with the message:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to x13.x10hosting.com:2222. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I did find your IP was blocked. The reason was for too many failed IMAP login attempts from your local network. This block occurred on 1/2.

I have removed the block however, please make sure all mail clients are using correct information

Thanks! I tried to read email before I saw your reply, so it may be blocked again. I have the credentials entered into Evolution, but which port, which encryption method and which authentication types should I use?

My IP is blocked again. I found https://gjr.x10.mx/#mail, but IMAP still didn't work. Will the IP unblock automatically after some delay?
I can ask staff to check your IP block. We should check your settings first.

Try
SMTP Server: gjr.x10.mx
TLS: port 587
or
SSL: port 465

POP Server: gjr.x10.mx
secure connection: port 995

If they don't work I'll inform staff.

Evolution does not seem to support POP. I am just trying to receive email. Please ask staff to unblock my IP. I will not try Evolution; but I need to read email from the control panel.

I see. The server type can't be changed. I created a POP email identity with your suggested settings. Should the server really have been "gjr.x10.mx"? The account disappears as soon as I finish setup.

Deleted stuff in Evolution and started over. I setup an account with gjr.x10.mx. When I try to fetch POP now it fails at authentication. I tried "ajaffer", "ajaffer@voluntocracy.org" and "agj@alum.mit.edu" as the user name; none would authenticate.. Is the password the same as I use for x10hosting.com? I apologize for bothering you with this.

according to your mx record, "****" should work. default x10 mx record is "mail.****". I use "smtp.tbint.us.org" and "pop.tbint.us.org". My SSL cert is a wild card. I also change mx record to "mx" with a priority of "10". intodns

"The account disappears as soon as I finish setup", are you referring to evolution? Most likely won't save failed settings. I used Claws Mail on my debian 12 OS. POP, and SMTP accounts. Never could get IMAP to work anywhere.

The default email address is, with just the "username" no @. The email account you created, has a password you created when you create the address. Directadmin >> Manage Email.

Thanks for clarifying. I will make those changes, but I am still blocked from x13.x10hosting.com, so testing is currently impossible.

Your IP has been unblocked again. But this will keep happening if you do not correct the information as outlined here.

Access was restored! I deleted and recreated the "webmaster@voluntocracy.org" account for POP on X10hosting and Evolution. It still won't authenticate, repeatedly asks for password. The Evoloution settings are: host: voluntocracy.org, User Name: webmaster.
I tried to change the password on the ajaffer@voluntocracy.org mail account on X10 and it won't accept the "Current DirectAdmin Password". It is the default account; can it be deleted?d

I am unsure what "Evolution" is you are refering to.

To setup an email client you will use :
host : yourdomainname or your server x13.x10hosting.com
username : the full email address.
password : your password setup.

The default email account is not useable for actual authentication and is used internally only.

The email account : webmaster@voluntocracy.org

Would use :
host : voluntocracy.org
username : webmaster@voluntocracy.org
password : yourpassword

First thing you should install a SSL certificate with directadmin. https://voluntocracy.org/

So you don't get blocked use http://voluntocracy.org/webmail/ to check your usernames & passwords.
