Ok. SO does it cost money to copyright a name of my site? If not where can I do this?

Do you guys actually copyright your site? or do you just put copyright bla bla on it but its not actually copyrighted?

from what i understood about that site (i read about it a while back)is that any work that is yours, you may say that it's copyrighted, but you can't sue over it unless you buy one (which would be the R with circle around it), which is a "registered trademark" please correct me if i'm wrong, but that's what i got out of it

My understanding of Copy right is as follows:

You can place copyright on your site, without having to pay for anything. I believe u can sue, for someone copying your work, but only if you can proove that the original work is yours.

For example if you painted a painting, and then someone copied, and you tried to sue. The only way you would win if is that you could proove that the original artwork was yours.

That is my understanding of it, so please feel free to proove me wrong.

If you have made the work entirely yourself, it is automatically copywritten to you. To register it (not sure what this does), you need to find the web site like the one Bryon posted but for Canada in your case.

I haven't registered anything, but I've made everything I distribute entirely by myself, so there really isn't the need to do so (in my opinion).

Well, for the name of your site it would have to be registered as a Trade Mark. Then you could say that all of your site is copyright to 'yoursite TM.'
Though trademarks cost about £200 in the U.K. which might not be worth it if you aren't getting any monetary rerturn from you site.

All original works are automatically copyrighted to the original author no matter what medium they are published in (internet, newpaper, book, art, games etc.). And no, you don't have to pay for copyright.

Heres the snippet from the UK patent website:
http://www.patent.gov.uk/copy/definition.htm said:
Before you go any further you need to know that there is no official register for copyright. It is an unregistered right (unlike patents, registered designs or trade marks). So, there is no official action to take, (no application to make, forms to fill in or fees to pay). Copyright comes into effect immediately, as soon as something that can be protected is created and "fixed" in some way, eg on paper, on film, via sound recording, as an electronic record on the internet, etc.
It is a good idea for you to mark your copyright work with the copyright symbol © followed by your name and the date, to warn others against copying it, but it is not legally necessary in the UK.
May be different in Canada
Hang on. *google searches*
