Good evening x10,

I know there's higher priorities than this (server issues, etc.), but I wanted to make this thread just in case if there's a general step that I'm just accidentally missing, or if others out there are interested in wanting these same results with their websites (A future Sticky: thread perhaps?).

I purchased a new domain a month ago (www.ryanschoof.com) and I'm about ready to launch the site. I've done these items in the proper order:

1. purchased domain
2. updated DNS server addresses with my registar (ns1.x10hosting.com, ns2.x10hosting.com)
3. parked domain in cPanel under "Parked Domains"
4. applied a redirect in cPanel under "Redirects" afterwards (Is this required?)

I've read through the x10 forums about Corey or any other admin being able to "push" a domain in order to have full ownership of the domain. I'm at a point where I'm ready for such action to take place because I want viewers to be able to see http://www.ryanschoof.com/index.html in their browser's URL. I also plan on making directories within ryanschoof.com (www.ryanschoof.com/start.html, ryanschoof.com/img/, etc....).

Is this possible for an admin to help me out with this? And if I'm missing a procedure in being able to do this myself, could anyone help point me in the right direction so that I'm able to keep my domain locked into the browser's URL?

[ NOTE: I'm uncertain how deep I'll be making this site (PHP, CGI, MySQL, etc.), so I'm not sure if an admin can look into my account to see if I haven't fully set up my account properly for a domain push. ]

Thanks so much x10!!! I'm truly enjoying your service and have gotta say y'all are doin' one helluva great job!

Did you purchase the domain yourself?

Corey can push the domain to your account if he purchased it for you so you have control over dns.

I purchased the domain myself yes. Because I'm at a state of launching my new website portfolio soon, and that I love all the features found within x10hosting (PHP, CGI, etc... if I decide to go that route later), I wanted to merge the two together. I was unaware that I couldn't link the two together.

Is there any way around this to where my purchased domain won't be used as just a springboard? I'm not trying to cover up the x10hosting URL by not giving credit (shoot, would love to put a nice clean x10hosting graphic on the center-bottom of my spash page w/ link if I'm not breaking Terms And Conditions of use). My concern is my domain name because it's literally contained within the design of my new website I'm almost ready to upload.:dunno:

Does it matter that I purchased my domain elsewhere DefecTalisman? I read somewhere in the forums that I can edit my Primary Domain(http://michiganroots.x10hosting.com) in the Account Management Panel under the Account Details ("Check if using your own domain name") [ (www.ryanschoof.com) ]

I believe I tried this before but afterwards found that my page was unavailable. (1)If I can & do need to make these changes, then (2)do I need to just wait it out for a couple of days for the Absolut Server to pick up on my new Primary Domain? Or (3)because I purchased my domain elsewhere, I can't bridge my domain name to my x10Hoosting account (I hope this is not the case)?

Thank you so very much for your reply, as well as all of your services with x10Hosting. Thanks you Very Much!!!

You can use any domain purchased. I recommend un-ticking that box and putting back your x10 subdomain. Then add the new domain as a parked under your cPanel. I and many other users have tried this method with no problems.

Please Close this Thread. I'm so sorry. *laughs* I forgot that I accidentally made a redirect in my cPanel to point right back to http://michiganroots.x10hosting.com. I'm sure y'all get this one a lot from others out there. I'm so very sorry about this.

Still to note: Would I have to talk to Corey about whether or not I can use x10Hosting's logo as a link if I give credit? I'd like to funnel positive business back towards x10Hosting if I can (ryanschoof.com hosted by: x10Hosting.com)

Love your services here x10!!!! You're the best! =)
