Curl on free hosted site problem

First of all, please forgive any incorrect terminology as i am new to PHP.

I am experiencing similiar problems to those expressed in this topic:

Due to that topic being locked, i have opened this one up.

OK, im having trouble running some curl scripts on my website, i continually get the following:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /home/etc etc etc

When i do a curl check it tells me " CURL: No"
Is curl disabled? and i f so, is it possible to have it enabled please?

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Please upgrade your php via the Account Management Panel. Your currently have the basic php version which has minimal php functionality.
