Hi there,

I read the "Read this thread before posting or get banned" thread and could not find any info to my issue. I am trying to connect to my files using CuteFTP but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Is there anyone who uses CuteFTP and/or can esplain to me how to set it up so that I can easily upload documents and files?

Thanks

CuteFTP should be self explanitory. You add your site's domain name (without the ftp:// part), and your cPanel username and password.

Jee, I must be a real moron if it is self-explanatory. Anyway, I thought I tried that method, i.e. domain name, username and password. I also waited a couple of days and tried it again because I read that it might take a few days for the account to be activated/accepted. Maybe I am misunderstanding what is meant by domain name. Under host address I put mydomain.x10hosting.com. I tried this with and withougt www, ftp, http in front. Is that maybe incorrect? Or do I maybe have to set up something on this end so that I can use CuteFTP?

Thanks,
Daiph

Let's bump this thread and ask again. Does anyone know how to use CuteFTP to upload files to the website? I think my problem lies with the host address. Can anyone tell me exactly what to put there? Do I have to put FTP in front of it? Or WWW? Or nothing?

Thanks

Use the details..

Host: ftp.<yourdomain>.com (Ex: ftp.mydomain.x10hosting.com) [ Don't prefix with ftp:// or http:// ]
Username: <yourcpanelusername>
Password: <yourcpanelpassword>

Navigate to /home/<yourcpanelusername>/public_html and upload your files.

All the best.

Thanks to both of you for the quick reply. I already tried it this way, i.e.

ftp.hawkandbear.x10hosting.com
myusername (daiphron)
mypassword

After that I click connect but then CuteFTP gets stuck in "Connecting..." mode. Is there anything that I need to set up on this side (i.e. x10 hosting) so that I can connect with CuteFTP? Or can you think of anything else I am not doing right?

Thanks
Edit:
For anyone who has been following this thread and/or had the same problem and was waiting for the end all answer, here it is: Don't use CuteFTP. I still don't know what the problem was but kajasweb recommended to use FileZilla and it works like a charm.

Thanks all and especially kajasweb,
Daiph
