Designing a Forum Theme

How would I go about designing a forum theme?

Is there anything special that I need to learn, or is it a simple case of creating a layout, then inserting phpBB code or what?

you can better just start editting stuff and then when you know how you do that, you start with a full skin of your own

Thanks, I shall look into it with more depth, when I have the time. I attempted what it was saying, although I got the code correct, getting the style to work, was a bit of a pain.

Generally, most of your theme is just going to be colors and images changed. Modify the CSS and images first, playing around with it until it looks nice, and then do any code adjustments.
