hello everybody,

i can't check the server i'm on,
[http://www.brandonsgames.com/checkserver/english.php]

my DNS name is cryptxvideo.exofire.net
[hosting plan is adFree]

this seems to be due to the DNS of the server 'absolut' [74.86.116.187] being down,
[http://forums.x10hosting.com/free-hosting/13706-x10hosting-services-up-down.html]

because i guess the check-script just tries to perform a DNS lookup,
so if that's the case, i'm pretty sure that my site is hosted on that server :)

a lot of times i checked my site, the DNS server has been down.

could the other server not act as a mirror just only for the DNS,
or if it is not possible to have that equal name also on the other DNS,
would it be at least possible to have another DNS-name at that server,
like cryptxvideo.x10hosting.com ?

thanks for any help

All four servers have synced DNS servers, and the name servers (ns1.x10hosting.com & ns2.x10hosting.com) are on 2 different servers, you should be fine:)

Also, please go to http://x10hosting.com/account and link your hosting and forum account please.

Also when you use my utility, what does the debug line say?

@brandon:
this is the output of the tool
http://www.brandonsgames.com/checkserver/english.php

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unable to determine server of cryptxvideo.exofire.net
Debug Info: $ip = cryptxvideo.exofire.net
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

and did you tell me to link my account just generally or because i havn't done it yet ?
because as far as i remember i did that just after registering.

somebody any ideas for the DNS issue ?

From what I understand of the way Corey has the DNS set up, one server hosts the DNS entries (that is the paid server), then the free servers just mirror the main DNS. So, as long as the DNS is up on the Paid server, then the DNS should resolve. Again, this is just going off what I understand from it, it may be wrong.

Now, in your situation, does your account exist still?

Off-Topic: @Brandon, When are you going to update the Status site so it will contain all 5 servers instead of just the original 3?

my info is the follwing:

board:
user: cryptx
pass: *censored*
mail: cryptxvideoREPLACE_BY_AT_SYMBOLyahoo.com

hosting:
user: cryptx
pass: *censored*
mail: cryptxvideoREPLACE_BY_AT_SYMBOLyahoo.com

accounts have been linked also.

site name:
cryptxvideo.exofire.net

@YamiKaitou:
i don't think that my account is suspended, because i'm not aware of any stuff
on my site which could be a violation.
but i also do not know how to check whether it has been suspended.
if one would receive an email on account suspension:
i didn't receive an email saying that my account has been suspended.
i also read the *account suspended* info
http://forums.x10hosting.com/suspended-accounts/12297-if-your-account-suspended.html
but couldn't find out how a user should check whether he has been suspended.

cPanel and ftp also do not work, which is obvious when the DNS name can't be resolved.

if you need some other info i've forgotten, let me know,
thanks

When was the last time you were able to access your account, and when did you sign-up for it?

I'm going to guess it was terminated. If you didn't login the forums for two weeks it would have been suspended, after 10 days of being suspended it would have been terminated.

If it last worked on August 16th it probably got suspended sometime around there, 10 days after it was terminated.

thanks for pointing it out, that was the problem.
i read about the inactivity rule, but forgot about it.

anyway, i wonder why one needs to log on to the board
to *prove* activity ?

i think i didn't really get it,
so here are some thoughts,
please correct me if i'm wrong,
or explain those things:

1.
imagine someone who keeps his site *active* by using
ftp daily to update stuff,
he would then be suspended due to inactivity just because
he didn't log on to the board.
i think that's kind of counterproductive, because
*board log on* and *site activity* is totally unrelated.
or the other way round:
someone doesn't need to update his site,
but just has to log on to the board once in two weeks.

2.
imagine someone with a site which is not updating
more often than once in a month, but there are a lot of
visitors, so again the site will be nuked ?

one other question:
if i still decide to use x10hosting,
is the name cryptxvideo.exofire.net available again ?

To answer your question regarding the 2 week rule.

I see your points are valid, but what if that site went down for a week ( or longer like months ago when we went through a site upgrade to v3 ) ... the user has been away for months ... gets complaints his site has been down for a long time ...
He comes on - chews the staff a new one because his site is down and demands to know why. ... The staff politely tells him that there has been a thread ( numerous in fact ) posted regarding server moves, upgrades, changes, etc.

Now, if that same user would have been checking in every couple weeks ( once in two weeks really is not all that hard to do ) they would of popped into the Server Alerts / News & Announcements, seen the threads talking about server changes coming up and been prepared.

There is a thread on this here:
http://forums.x10hosting.com/feedba...visit-forums-once-2-weeks-month-new-post.html

Yes, your domain should be available. Once an account is terminated the user name and domain are released to be used again.

We also believe that if your account is suspended and you are using it you'd contact us to get it unsuspended :). I think 10 days without any response is a fair time to assume someone is not using their site anymore.
